OOC EVENT PLOTTING: SEPTEMBER 2023

GUIDELINES. This is the OOC plotting post for the September 2023 event! Here you can find brief summaries of the various event prompts which may help you engage in plotting with other players. To participate, utilize the code at the bottom of the page. This is not mandatory! Feel free to plot here or in private with other players, or simply wait to be part of the event. NOTE: This is NOT the event log! The event log will go up on the 19th of this month. WE WERE DREAMING, WAITING FOR NIGHT. The new park is a permanent location that is open to residents 24/7 as there are no fences nor gates. It's larger than the one near City Hall and has more potential for exploring as well as different features from its cousin. For those that are familiar, it will evoke thoughts of New York's Central Park with its mixture of open areas contrasting with thick woods. Paved walkways, freshwater ponds, picnic areas, and a couple of playgrounds can all be found throughout the park. Along with these, residents may stumble upon other natural and man-made areas such as rocky outcrops, unmarked trails, bicycle paths, fountains, and other things typically found in large urban parks—minus the wildlife. It can be a romantic setting as easily as it can be a horrific one depending on the time of day as well as the company that you keep. THEN THE HEAT BROKE, THE NIGHT WAS CLEAR. Located in the southern half of the large park is a small fun fair that will open to the public the evening of September 19 with operating hours from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM City time. Before opening, none of the rides or games will be operational; however, there will be fliers advertising its opening all around the city on billboards and telephone poles, and adventurous characters are able to hop the fence and explore if they so desire. However, they will not be able to turn on any of the rides or games, and will not be able to break into the rides or booths under any circumstances. Upon opening, there will be a number of rides running themselves on a schedule that allows people time to get on, have some fun, and then get back off again. Among those named are a merry-go-round, mirror fun house, bumper cars, a tunnel of love, and knock-off Gravitron. Though there's something unsettling about the music they play, or maybe how shaky they feel, there's no apparent danger anywhere. Residents are encouraged to enjoy themselves with a group of friends, or maybe a date, and experience all that the fun fair has to offer! The fair will not be open forever, though; its gates will close permanently at 11:00 PM on September 30 and all traces will disappear that night to leave a large, open field behind in the park. This is a good, ol' fashioned carnival designed to bring together groups of people for thrills and fun. Though there are no overt game mechanics at play, we encourage everyone to get creative and add their own flair to this month's event. IT SEEMED AN HONOR TO HAVE A MOUTH. As quintessential as the rides, no fun fair is complete without rigged games or greasy food. Some of the notable mentions are a shooting gallery, dart throwing, and the ubiquitous ring toss. You may think that it's easier to cheat at a game when there are no attendants telling you made-up rules, but you'll still find it difficult to win yourself one of the many prizes hanging from the ceilings. There's a plethora of food to enjoy with all the classics: corn dogs, fries, funnel cake, pizza, shaved ice, and fried junk food. Despite the potential for danger from the shooting gallery and balloon dart games, both are designed to be as harmless as possible—the bullets are rubber, and the darts are made of plastic. While they will still leave a bruise, there shouldn't be risk of blood loss. The shooting gallery guns are chained in place, unable to be stolen. Removing the darts from their stall will result in thiefs walking in a tight circle that always brings them back in hopes the darts will be restored to their rightful place. Though the food and games are free, the prizes are not—anyone who attempts to steal prizes without winning the games first will find themselves misplacing their items before leaving the carnival. If residents become aware of this phenomenon and try extra hard to focus on not losing their stolen prize, it will nevertheless slip from their hands and be lost—though a keen eye might see it back in its rightful place at the game stall. If you have the right temperament, this could become a game in and of itself! Additionally, if there are any fair games or foods that have not been explicitly mentioned above, players are welcome to assume they can be found. Nothing as extravagant as a theme park or amusement park will be present as all of the stalls are designed to be mobile—this is a traveling carnival, after all. Similarly, players are welcome to design their own brand of unsettling game prizes as long as none of them can be used as an actual weapon or to otherwise harm fellow fair-goers. CODES. I think I need to step back from anything involved for this month to figure out what the fuck Midnight's done for the past couple weeks, so I will be reaching out to specific people for this event instead of soliciting anything new. (Midnight will be asking literally everyone he knows for a date to the fair. Remember, kids: just say no!) I'll try to have room for more next month, promise!
OTHER PLANS:
If I made broad plans with your character last month and never followed through, I apologize! My goal for the next couple of weeks is to tag out to newcomers and CR I've left on the backburner. I may need to drop some plans I made for the mall specifically, but I promise I'm keeping an eye on our CR and I will probably start new threads with your characters this month if they have something open!

Specifics:
> Vampire stuff: Midnight will be nibbling on Welt Yang for his blood needs, but he will need to branch out so he doesn't drain Grandpa dry. Like last month, I will reach out to CR he'd choose to talk to about this! At this point, I think he'd maybe ask Gebura for help, if anyone. If you'd like to plan out some CR that puts your character on his list, hit me up. Please keep in mind that This Dude Has Trust Issues and it might take a while for him to open up! I swear it's nothing personal, he's just very private.
> Being pretty sick stuff: In general, Midnight is going to start showing more signs of stress! He is very averse to talking about it or showing weakness, so if you'd like a scenario where your character comes across him unconscious from exhaustion or something, that's fine, but please know that he's not above straight up lying about himself to avoid conversations, so most will need to corner him for the truth. If your character is an exception to this rule, I will let you know!

Midnight's a bit batshit, overly social, and very flirtatious toward most everyone — unless you're a baby, he's funny uncle coded for the kids — so he is great for anyone who needs a drinking buddy willing to start conversations. Once you get past his... everything... he's kind, reliable, and really, truly likes most everyone, so he's a great "baby's first friend" for those who need one. (People keep saying he has low standards! It's more like he has ridiculously high standards for himself, so everyone else seems like they're doing great in comparison. I took a 2 week break from August 31st until today! I did not expect to take this break, so I do apologize if you were wondering if I abandoned our thread. Unless something similar to what I experienced IRL happens again, I do not intend to leave. (What happened was about as likely as getting crushed by a vending machine, so don't worry! (I did not get crushed by a vending machine lmao))

I will be reaching out to various thread partners this week to wrap up and handwave older threads if the content of the thread seems significant! EVENT PLOTTING: Honestly, despite all of Daan saying that he'd be better off not exploring a newly opened area, once he sees people are going for the fair he's going to give a BIG SIGH and check it out too because he really just can't help but make sure everyone else is going to be fine. Imagine his relief that things aren't too messed up this time, just kind of quirky. Quirky is fine.

Anything to do with clowns he's staying away from fiercely, though. YOU CAN'T MAKE HIM DO ANYTHING WITH CLOWNS.

CANON POINT: post-the queen of the damned. for anyone who hasn't read the book (the qotd movie does NOT count): at the end of the book lestat has become a rock star, had an affair with a vampire god, drank her blood and therefore got even more powerful, and decided that the war he wanted to start was actually a silly idea! so instead he decides to live in a house in miami with his vampire friends while flying to london every now and again for a holiday to annoy his human friend. :) what a happy ending.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Flamboyant French vampire who loves to cause problems on purpose. He's like your friends cat: he does bite, but only if he likes you. He's interested in anything that sounds like a bit of fun, regardless of how morally correct it is, much to the absolute dismay of his vampire boyfriend.

Not event-wise; he's currently on the precipice of biting someone and will get handcuffed for it - so if you'd like to be handcuffed (either at the event or not, but lol imagine Lestat DRAGGING your character around the funfair. No little handcuff will stop him) to an absolute freak.. also let me know!! (full disclosure tho, it's 24 hours and for the daylight portion of that, lestat enters the death sleep which is basically like.. he turns into a corpse and can't be awoken and will attack you if you try to go into the sun so. i hope you have games on your phone.)

He's here just after being sacrificed to a cult and possessed by an ancient demon king. It's fine, he's fine (he's not fine at all)

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: +1 tragedy stoner riddled with demons from Utah, here at The City..... Peter is a severely traumatised teenager who also happens to have inherited the fate of being the vessel for a demon king of Hell known as Paimon (very different from your Genshin Impact Paimon h-haha....) This is King Paimon as in the ancient goetic entity, an extremely powerful being known to be Lucifer's most loyal king, whose grants include knowledge, wealth, and secrets of the universe itself. Due to the nature of Paimon in canon, I've been able to bring him with Peter here, nerfed down and just haunting his bones. Peter has no idea he's hosting an entire demon, but is going to be displaying a variety of possession symptoms that I would love to play around with. Let's do some spooky things 👻

EVENT PLOTTING: I'm so down to clown here, and I'm wide open for fun fair activities! Peter'll probably just quietly be haunting various places like the literally haunted teenager that he is.... I'd love any range from lighter-hearted (merry-go-round, trying for some cheap prizes, pigging out on fair food) to a more angsty flavour (he'd UH have a Very Bad Reaction to fun houses and bumper cars.......) Please I would also love for him to end up on the tunnel of love with someone, it'll be so awkward
OTHER PLANS: After getting a photo of his family back in the bank vault event, Peter pretty much went into reclusion for (checks watch) an entire month. He's just recently been creeping back out of it, and funnily enough, missed all of the Mall Fuckery that happened.... so he's actually been hanging out at the mall, unknowing of the traumas it inflicted on almost everyone else! I'd love to thread out some fun mall shenans if anyone wants to OR if you want your character to have to touch on some of what they faced... we could possibly work with that. Catching back up with cr he met awhile back and then vanished from would be nice, too! In general, I'm wide open to explore cr and see where the journey takes us! Peter's hugely susceptible to wandering the city in a fugue possessed state and could end up anywhere (which is always good for new cr shenanigans). He's prone to panic / attacks and Getting Triggered By Many Things, so H/C is always on the table and I always crave it. Alternatively, he's pretty darn spooky and could potentially set off other people who may have various traumas or just fears about this place in general, which I'm definitely down to explore as well. A few things that I'm always looking for: adults to watch out for him and make sure he doesn't die, fellow teens to hang with, younger folks for Little Sibling Guilt feels, and all the spooky people with any kind of supernatural / occult experience! (He has gently been nudging closer to learning more about The Supernatural, though he still has hardly any idea just how much of a grasp it has on him....) He also really needs drugs

While it's helped him make friends and step up from being a hapless loser, he'd still much rather not be in charge of the mafia and would rather live a regular, normal life. And he tries to keep that part secret, which might be obvious. But despite the bid for normalcy, he is a shonen protagonist to the core, so if you're in need of a friend, he's there.
He doesn't ask for trouble but it follows him home anyway.

EVENT PLOTTING:
- Tsuna is definitely down for exploring the park. He's been doing that for a few parks in the city, and so he'll probably be checking out the playgrounds, outcroppings and other things, with the usual trouble that follows him. (Falling in ponds, falling off structures, some sort of incident with dangerous playground equipment. Please help a boy.)

-It might not be the end of summer festival he's used to, but Tsuna will be checking out the fair. He's a weenie, so he'll probably be avoiding the rides which means someone should drag him onto a ride. If there isn't the risk of throwing up, what is even the point?

-Carnival games and food! Please! Tsuna might be looking for cultural touchstones he's familiar with like Takoyaki, but he's open to trying other things as well.

-Help him find fireworks? Nothing wraps up a festival like fireworks! And it's an important thing for him and his friends and he's a little homesick. There's no way this can possibly go wrong or result in a fire.

-He will probably have a top level at the event

Wolf's out once a month during the full moon and it isn't a pretty sight, though his power nerf means anyone unlucky enough to find him is a chew toy rather than a dead man/woman. Also, the day him and Vanessa actually get together is the day the City implodes, true story. Fire and brimstone, indeed.

EVENT PLOTTING: I haven't tossed him around nearly as much as I've wanted to, my health hasn't been great lately, so I'm trying to amend that now by plotting as much as I can for the rest of the month. An actually efficient and cunning assassin at the end of the day who admires his evil Eldritch master (This Is Fine), but to most people he's just a stupidly tall (7'7!) stuck-up jerk who talks like he's a member of the Rat Pack, and that's how he likes it because as much as he likes killin' and working hard to keep himself at top billing, he also likes chillin' and getting to enjoy his status a bit. Rarely sits still or shuts up and likes to talk/sing to himself sometimes. Also, he says 'babe' a lot. EVENT PLOTTING: Nothing hugely specific here: Alhaitham will go check out the park + faire because it is New and he's inclined to poke new things until they start to leak answers. Since most of her powers were nerfed by the city, she's mostly just a walking taser with exceptional electronics skills and knowledge and is more than willing to try to use that to help others or help figure out what's going on.

But yeah, she'd probably be pretty easily persuaded to check out the fair both before and after it opens, OSTENSIBLY to make sure it's safe for others, but also because she's extremely curious and would love for something to just be fun for once.

-She'll be very hesitant on some of the larger rides, but might be talked into it
-She'd absolutely try all the carnival games, and would be surprisingly good at those requiring good hand-eye coordination like ring tossing
-Can probably be found exploring just about any other place that can be explored and eating EVERYTHING. Carnival food is the best for quick energy, right?

OTHER PLANS: Eventually, she'll probably be going back to the mall to search for the things she ACTUALLY wanted to get the first time, as well as look at clothing and stuff as it gets colder. Additionally, she would have already been checking out the university (NOT the pool though) for anything interesting, as well as being very grumpy there's still no books. So people can totally see her in those places, or really anywhere, I'm not picky and she's kinda got cabin fever so it'll all work!

CONTENT WARNING: She tries not to talk about her past much, especially as she works through exactly what happened to her and how bad it actually was, so all of this can be avoided and not brought up if need be, but her background has mostly emotional abuse, parental issues, a potential battle/war in the making, and the fear and anxiety surrounding all of those. ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
At first glance, Cyno is an incredibly stoic young man, especially if he is currently in Working Mode. He's quite curt and to-the point, he doesn't waste time with social mores, and he is quick to see through to the heart of a matter, rather than wasting his time beating around the bush. He's incredibly direct, and even might seem a little cold to those who are first meeting him, distant at best, and incredibly hard to read. It is not easy to tell what he is thinking at any given moment, and he holds his cards quite close to his chest, not quick to trust those around him, though unless you are a wanted criminal, he is not necessarily unkind to those he meets, only cool, and even a little harsh.

In truth, however, especially when he isn't working, Cyno is quite a gentle individual, especially when around those he trusts or cares for. He's dedicated and loyal, and even cracks silly, often terrible jokes with his signature deadpan humor in an attempt to lighten the mood, when his stoic disposition has created any tension or discomfort. He's incredibly quick to defend others, and to keep the peace in any given situation. He enjoys.. frankly very nerdy hobbies, including a popular TCG game, and roleplaying, which seems incongruous with his harsh and serious demeanor. Basically he's a doberman pinscher.. scary on the outside, marshmallow soft man on the inside.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Kim Kitsuragi is a tightly wound police officer from the city of Revachol, an Eastern-European inspired noir city with a storied and complicated past. He does his very best to appear unemotional, upright, and very, very normal, but he hides a wild streak and deep wells of nerdy passion about his interests (namely fast cars, loud music, and a fondness for science-fiction). He tends to be closed off and historically has a difficult time making emotional connections due to his history as an Seolite (in-universe asian) gay man in a city unkind to both of these things. He's a caring man underneath it all, however, and will do his best to be of assistance when he can be.

EVENT PLOTTING: Despite canonically yearning to go on carnival rides - he'll get that ferris wheel ride one day before he dies! - he's got enough regard for his own personal health to refuse to go on the mysteriously erected carnival rides, and would need convincing to go on. Otherwise, he tends to explore each area underneath the impression that something terrible is going to happen, so he'll definitely be there! He will at least decide that it's harmless enough to play the games, which he'll be unnecessarily competitive about. Mainly, I'd like an opportunity to build and strengthen CR.
OTHER PLANS: As said above: would love to build and strengthen CR, and I don't mind at all where that CR building takes place! I'm happy to have him playing support to others' needs or hijinks, exploring the new park & other areas (such as ones included in the TDM prompt), investigating the new comparative scarcity of goods, domestic slice of life stuff, focusing on learning self-defense without his gun, etc., etc.!

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Roland is the male protagonist of Ruina who stumbled into the eponymous Library, and after a near-death experience inside, he became a Librarian whose job is to "receive guests" (read: fight to the death) that are invited by Angela, in search of That One Book that will turn the esteemed director into a human. As for the guy himself, he's... pretty cool and chill! Maybe too chill to the point of apathy, but that's how it be! He works as a lowly Fixer (mercenary, basically) in a dystopian cyberpunk world known as the City (haha), and he's usually the guy who provides exposition about that world and the culture in it. Seriously, he's such a nondescript NPC, but he's pretty open about a lot of things for the most part. But he is a Project Moon protag at the end of the day so there's definitely something about him...

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: In the Final Fantasy XVI world, people can either innately use magic, or they use crystals in order to use magic. Those who are born capable of using magic without a crystal are called Bearers, and are discriminated and used as tools by those without magic. There are also Dominants, individuals who are hosts to Eikons, which are basically the summons of the game. These Dominants are able to transform into these Eikons, use magic affiliated with the Eikon, and are either revered or treated as slaves, depending on where they are from.

Joshua is the Dominant of the Phoenix, the Warden of Fire. As such, he has fire and healing spells! He cannot turn into a bird here, though. He is the rightful duke to a fallen duchy, and is the head of a secret organisation called The Undying. His goal, alongside his brother, and other allies, is to destroy the mothercrystals (bigass crystals that are the source of magic), cleanse the world, and give everyone, normal people and Bearers alike a chance to live life on their own terms.

EVENT PLOTTING: Joshua had a pretty rough month last month, so I'd love for him to engage in some fun!!

:') That is to say, he has never been to a carnival or an amusement park or anything like it before. Anyone showing him around and introducing him to the rides would be fun!! Though he'd honestly be curious, if a little wary at first because he doesn't want to a) see anyone die, and b) fake die again.

I imagine he'd want to try the mirror fun house and just talk about stuff and scare his companion without actually meaning to with his stories and rambling. :'D He likely wouldn't like bumper cars, but the tunnel of love would be cute?! He doesn't have much CR yet but still!! A fun little ride.

Being introduced to ridiculously greasy and unhealthy food would also be hilarious. Feed him all the corn dogs and pizza-- that would be so phenomenal. He'd honestly be so happy and surprised that such a recipe exists.

He could even try and win a prize for his companion because they gave him a good time :D

EVENT PLOTTING: Wrench is coming out of the fog and is going to be in A State for a little bit. For the most part, someone might find him totally dazed out and wandering around into weird places, getting lost in the house of mirrors, or just laying on a merry-go-round for hours at a time lmfao.

OTHER PLANS: Eventually he's going to come out as being the Anon behind helping people be Anon and other such crap and help Junpei with monthly meetings, mostly being someone to gather other tech types and engineers. CANON POINT: 6.0 Endwalker After locating and surrounding Meteion, but before things go completely sour. He'd just pointed out to Hermes that the question and the mission he gave to his creation was flawed after they learn of the dead civilizations the Meteia witnessed. All of which is to say he comes in pre-villain arc, with all his memories of Elpis up until that point intact.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Emet-Selch, or Hades, hails from a utopian world where mankind stands 20 feet tall and possesses the inherent ability to magically create nigh on anything they are capable of imagining: objects, architecture, arcane entities, and even creatures - anything except for souls themselves. He serves on the governing council of their world, as the keeper of the aetherial realm or Underworld to which all life eventually returns to be cleansed and reborn anew. This means he is capable of identifying souls by their "color" and possesses the ability to detect aether currents. He is an accomplished mage as well as a textbook tsundere who is constantly coerced into mischief and various other tasks by his two gremlin friends. Although he complains about such coercion loudly and openly, he finds enjoyment in discovery and learning, and has quite a penchant for theatrics, poetry, and uninterrupted naps in the park.

EVENT PLOTTING: Seeing as parks are one of a few things Emet-Selch openly likes, he'll be checking the place out even before learning of the fair. Hythlodaeus has tasked him to try one new thing before setting all of his efforts upon returning home, so let this fair be his "one thing". (And hopefully lead to many more.) The experience will prove rather novel and have him wide-eyed in bewilderment and interest. What's the point of riding on sculptures of creations rotating on a circular platform? What are these strange barreled instruments that shoot pellets at stationary targets? What is this peculiar excuse for food and why is it so heavily breaded and piping hot and sticky with grease? Why does this sickly sweet beverage bubble and burn as it goes down his throat?
OTHER PLANS: He's only just arrived, so I'd very much like to find him some friends(????) and collaborators, fellow mage types, etc. Negative CR is also fine by me (and expected, honestly).
CONTENT WARNING: Please warn me for graphic descriptions of violence, injury and gore. I get squeamish pretty easily and do much better with a head's up in advance. As for things you should be warned for, Emet-Selch comes from a "perfect, peaceful world" unknowingly on the precipice of apocalypse. He has also done... a LOT of terrible things in his future. We're talking calamities on a planetwide scale, war, subjugation, looking down on humanity as less than people, being directly and indirectly responsible for countless deaths, and much more. While he comes in from a much earlier canon point, these topics will almost certainly crop up here and there during his interactions with castmates. As a bonus, he retains his memories of whatever summarized version of events the Warrior of Light provided him with (in my mind, an abridged retelling of the Final Fantasy XIV storyline with some direct word-for-word quotes from Emet-Selch for good measure).
