OOC EVENT PLOTTING: The Nights Were Humid, Still. (September 2023)
OOC EVENT PLOTTING: SEPTEMBER 2023 | ||||||
GUIDELINES. This is the OOC plotting post for the September 2023 event! Here you can find brief summaries of the various event prompts which may help you engage in plotting with other players. To participate, utilize the code at the bottom of the page. This is not mandatory! Feel free to plot here or in private with other players, or simply wait to be part of the event.WE WERE DREAMING, WAITING FOR NIGHT. The new park is a permanent location that is open to residents 24/7 as there are no fences nor gates. It's larger than the one near City Hall and has more potential for exploring as well as different features from its cousin. For those that are familiar, it will evoke thoughts of New York's Central Park with its mixture of open areas contrasting with thick woods. Paved walkways, freshwater ponds, picnic areas, and a couple of playgrounds can all be found throughout the park. Along with these, residents may stumble upon other natural and man-made areas such as rocky outcrops, unmarked trails, bicycle paths, fountains, and other things typically found in large urban parks—minus the wildlife. It can be a romantic setting as easily as it can be a horrific one depending on the time of day as well as the company that you keep.THEN THE HEAT BROKE, THE NIGHT WAS CLEAR. Located in the southern half of the large park is a small fun fair that will open to the public the evening of September 19 with operating hours from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM City time. Before opening, none of the rides or games will be operational; however, there will be fliers advertising its opening all around the city on billboards and telephone poles, and adventurous characters are able to hop the fence and explore if they so desire. However, they will not be able to turn on any of the rides or games, and will not be able to break into the rides or booths under any circumstances.IT SEEMED AN HONOR TO HAVE A MOUTH. As quintessential as the rides, no fun fair is complete without rigged games or greasy food. Some of the notable mentions are a shooting gallery, dart throwing, and the ubiquitous ring toss. You may think that it's easier to cheat at a game when there are no attendants telling you made-up rules, but you'll still find it difficult to win yourself one of the many prizes hanging from the ceilings. There's a plethora of food to enjoy with all the classics: corn dogs, fries, funnel cake, pizza, shaved ice, and fried junk food.CODES.

NAME: Hayley
CONTACT:
ABOUT YOU: Big nerd who likes video games and is way too into Baldur's Gate 3 right now. Unable to reply while at work save for during my lunch hour, so mostly able to tag evenings Monday - Thursday and on weekends. My timezone is CST
and I'm still drinking my morning coffee while I write this lolIC INFORMATION.
Hythlodaeus
AGE: Unknown, but I personally put him over 1000 years old.
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV
CANON POINT: Post-Ktisis Hyperboreia.
ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Chill dude from an Ancient semi-utopic civilization where people were basically gods (minus the ability to create souls). Currently getting used to the fact that his version of the world he lived in is an outlier and should not have been counted. Also that there's basically an apocalypse in his future.
USEFUL LINKS: Permissions / Inbox / Application
EVENT PLOTTING: Definitely want Hyth to go to the fair! He needs to look upon all that can be fried at a fair and be horrified/impressed/curious. He can also probably win you and yours a prize at the shooting gallery.
OTHER PLANS: Hyth is thinking of hosting something where he gets people to talk about specific things about their home world in the spirit of learning more about others. It'll be something more like a series of individual network posts where different characters get to shine than an open forum type deal (though I'm good with that sort of thing as well!) Let me know if you'd like in on that sort of thing or if your character would be interested!
Please look forward to a lesson on basic aetherology coming soonCONTENT WARNING: As mentioned above, he's currently dealing with the knowledge that the world he knows is going to end somewhere within his lifetime and that he's likely going to die with it. He'll probably not bring it up out of nowhere, but it may pop up in brackets here or there. Please let me know if that's not something you'd like to deal with at the moment!
ANYTHING ELSE: I'M PROBABLY MISSING SOMETHING BECAUSE I NEED TO FINISH GETTING READY FOR WORK BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS SO HERE'S A SILLY MEME

And, you know, that one random frog.

But god. Yeah. Them judging the hell out of those poor merry-go-round horses. Maybe even trying to get one another to try some of the fried foods first.

And maybe also funnel cakes and apple cider donuts.

But also the image of Emet eating fucking chicken nuggets is making me lose my shit so ABSOLUTELY on that front.
no subject
I also feel like...he'd have a lot to say about how chicken nuggets don't taste like chicken and instead have the consistency of wet sponge. Insert a long-winded and passionate rant here.

You'll be happy to know that thanks to these two's interaction, Hyth is very much on board with trying to keep the graveyard tidy
and ignore all the names and dates on the stonesno subject
STOP COMPARING HIM TO PEOPLE HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE COMPARED TObecause I think they're funny and it sustains me. Watch him attend the aetherology lecture and have Urianger flashbacks.I also have Ghost who might be a curiosity to Hyth for other reasons, she's got a certain amount of reality-warping powers herself (nerfed in the City though) but hers manifest through writing things so they might have an interesting conversation talking shop? Entirely up to you, I know OCs aren't necessarily everyone's bag!

and poor Thancred get menaced by the purple gremlin manI'm totally fine with OCs and very interested in some CR between those two! Ghost has a super interesting premise, I've gotta admit. Somewhere in the fairgrounds sound good to you?
no subject
what, like it's hard?Sure! She'll be obsessed with the merry-go-round herself so possibly they could wind up riding it at the same time, or somesuch. please tell her about the Hall of Rhetoric, she'll actually agree that it's the ideal hangout spot for any person of quality and taste.

also quick question - for the mall thread, can we assume that kaveh would have seen emet as the person chasing hythlodaeus? this is just to see if kaveh's to recognise the other person teaching the lesson with hythlodaeus or not!
