OOC EVENT PLOTTING: The Nights Were Humid, Still. (September 2023)
OOC EVENT PLOTTING: SEPTEMBER 2023 | ||||||
GUIDELINES. This is the OOC plotting post for the September 2023 event! Here you can find brief summaries of the various event prompts which may help you engage in plotting with other players. To participate, utilize the code at the bottom of the page. This is not mandatory! Feel free to plot here or in private with other players, or simply wait to be part of the event.WE WERE DREAMING, WAITING FOR NIGHT. The new park is a permanent location that is open to residents 24/7 as there are no fences nor gates. It's larger than the one near City Hall and has more potential for exploring as well as different features from its cousin. For those that are familiar, it will evoke thoughts of New York's Central Park with its mixture of open areas contrasting with thick woods. Paved walkways, freshwater ponds, picnic areas, and a couple of playgrounds can all be found throughout the park. Along with these, residents may stumble upon other natural and man-made areas such as rocky outcrops, unmarked trails, bicycle paths, fountains, and other things typically found in large urban parks—minus the wildlife. It can be a romantic setting as easily as it can be a horrific one depending on the time of day as well as the company that you keep.THEN THE HEAT BROKE, THE NIGHT WAS CLEAR. Located in the southern half of the large park is a small fun fair that will open to the public the evening of September 19 with operating hours from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM City time. Before opening, none of the rides or games will be operational; however, there will be fliers advertising its opening all around the city on billboards and telephone poles, and adventurous characters are able to hop the fence and explore if they so desire. However, they will not be able to turn on any of the rides or games, and will not be able to break into the rides or booths under any circumstances.IT SEEMED AN HONOR TO HAVE A MOUTH. As quintessential as the rides, no fun fair is complete without rigged games or greasy food. Some of the notable mentions are a shooting gallery, dart throwing, and the ubiquitous ring toss. You may think that it's easier to cheat at a game when there are no attendants telling you made-up rules, but you'll still find it difficult to win yourself one of the many prizes hanging from the ceilings. There's a plethora of food to enjoy with all the classics: corn dogs, fries, funnel cake, pizza, shaved ice, and fried junk food.CODES.

Also Jo's currently getting a crash course in TVC vampires and might, as a result, be up for offering Midnight some nibbles if he needs a juice box.
She's having a mildly self-destructive autumn, don't worry about itno subject
midnight's an open book with regards to vampires from his own world, but i think he'd emphasize that vampires are just another type of living human being on terra, so he's not undead! he's also about to confirm that terran vampires are extremely long lived. terran vampires also have a bunch of frankly horrifying powers and none of the classical weaknesses, but midnight would probably steer politely around that because he's not out to scare her... lol...
aaaay, self-destructive autumn, just what we need after hot girl summer! LMAO... midnight's... kind of the same way, but they'll learn that about each other later 🙃 for now, i think johanna's doing pretty okay with regard to midnight eventually asking her for a nibble? it's probably going to have to wait until midnight can confirm that she's tough and won't ask too many questions about his health, and even then, johanna is probably going to have to bully him into admitting there's a problem first. sorry that this is so difficult btw! he's just really not a fan of harassing women, like ever, so he's much more prone to asking men for these things 💀

Johanna would happily (though surely with plenty of snark and flirting) share what she knows about vampire mythology from her world, which is basically our world, so. At some point she probably asked "if I spill rice in front of you are you compelled to count it" which I'm sure Midnight would find not at all baffling.
Her view on the supernatural and the occult boils down to a few concepts, I think. First, that there are a lot of powers in the universe, all of which have rules and bounds, though those rules and bounds may be difficult for humans to understand. Second, that magic is essentially about force of will, and anyone can do it if they put in the work.
And third, to the question of religion and stories, many stories humans tell about occult shit are true in some way, but they're easily distorted by politics and time. (Insert explanation of Christianity and witch hunts here.) But also they can be a bit circular, because if enough people buy into a version of a story it can start to influence reality, and that's why she thinks speaking Latin works on demons even though they've all been around since before the language was invented. Thank you for coming to her TED talk, she thinks you're extremely charming, Midnight.
No apologies for difficulties necessary! He's a good boy!! If he's asking people to go the fair, Johanna would grudgingly tag along. Might try to steal a stuffed bat for Midnight, which will unfortunately not work.

ooh, midnight will be very interested to hear about magic explained in that sense! magic DOES sort of exist in his world, but he'll only mention it in the sense that it's treated more like a science, and he never really got a good education in it :ob He's way more interested in, like, thoughts being made real? He knows of a few Arts casters who can do that, but they're like, almost gods. The fact that just stories can do stuff like that will be highly interesting to him, if only because he loves books.
Now that I've climbed out of my tag pile, would you mind if I tagged you somewhere? I haven't checked if you made a top level or a catch-all anywhere, but I'd be happy to hit you with a fair prompt in Jo's inbox at some point soon. :') Tell me what works for you!
