GUIDELINES.
This is the OOC plotting post for the July 2023 event! Here you can find brief summaries of the various event prompts which may help you engage in plotting with other players. To participate, utilize the code at the bottom of the page. This is not mandatory! Feel free to plot here or in private with other players, or simply wait to be part of the event.
NOTE: This is NOT the event log! The event log will go up on the 19th of this month.
THE THINGS I GAVE YOU.
The city's main bank branch is now open for business! On the morning of July 19, characters in the vicinity of the bank will be able to witness the previously-locked doors of the bank swing open enough to admit anyone brave enough to enter. Inside, the bank is quite empty and unfortunately does not contain any files of relevance, similar to City Hall or the office buildings around town. It does, however, have a rack of keys behind the teller's desk at the back of the building. These are keys to the safety deposit boxes in the bank vault, each of which bear an embossed tag that assigns them to a participating character in the city.
After the event, the bank and the vault inside it will remain open to characters, and characters will be able to use their safety deposit boxes for storing their own belongings. Breaking into other players' safety deposit boxes will become possible beginning August 1, but must be done with player permission and will result in appropriate consequences as detailed in the frequently asked questions.
IT'S TRUE, PEOPLE TAKE THINGS BUT RARELY.
This section is for players who are interested in guiding their own character's participation in the event!
When each character opens their safety deposit box, they will find two items: a small, emotionally significant item from their canon (non-magical, no larger than what could reasonably fit in a coat pocket), and a paper note bearing a cryptic message about "sharing." As soon as the item is removed from the safety deposit box, the doors swing shut, locking characters inside. The only way to escape seems to be to interpret the meaning of the note and share the significance of the item with whoever else is trapped in the vault. Additionally, for the next four days, if a character is carrying the item on their person they will feel especially loose-lipped about its meaning, and will feel almost compelled (although not irresistibly so) to share with those around them.
A CRASH-SITE IS SACRED, WE'RE FAITHFUL.
This section is for characters who would like to have some mod assistance in creating event interaction, or who are interested in joint participation in the event!
The setup of this section is similar: when a character opens their safety deposit box, they will find two items. The first item is a small, emotionally significant item from canon (non-magical, no larger than an average coat pocket)—the difference is that this item does not belong to them. It belongs to another player character in the city, and the second item is a slip of paper bearing the name of that character as well as the same cryptic message about "sharing." These items will need to be returned to their original owners, and similar to the section above, once the original owner is found, the doors of their location will swing shut, trapping them until the original owner shares the significance of the item with the character who found it. And just like the section above, for the next four days, characters who carry their item on their person will feel almost compelled to tell others about its meaning.
Players are welcome to plot their own swaps for this section of the event, or can optionally sign up using this form to have their safety deposit box contents randomized. Much like a Secret Santa exchange, the mods will collect character names and journals and randomize the item recipients. It's possible that the exchanges won't be 1:1, and that, for example, Blorbo will have an item belonging to Heo Gyun, who will have an item belonging to John Doe, who will have an item belonging to Blorbo. Because this list will need to be posted with the event post on the 19th, we ask that players submit the form by 12:00 PM noon on July 19, ahead of the event post going up, so we can randomize the requests. In order to make sure there's good diversity in the character pool, we will only proceed with randomizing if there are at least 5 interested characters across at least 3 players.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: old info post, but tl;dr - Kamui Uehara is a brain clone of another guy also named Kamui Uehara, who has inspired cults and revolutions and might be a metaphysical chaotic entity; he's a former government sleeper agent; he's a detective from a cyberpunk-lite dystopia; he's a timeline-traversing reality warper who knows he's from a video game; he died like 30 times in a timeloop; he's a trained killer; he's besties with a guy who he had a fight to the death with one time. He can be pretty awkward,as he does not know how to live a normal life, but he's actually very mild-mannered and polite and trying his best to figure himself as a person out.

Kamui's getting one of his sticker books from the Shelter Kids Project, the government reeducation facility in which he was raised from ages 2-6. He is going to react Very Badly to this and will probably sit in the corner of his bank vault dissociating for a little bit before he can properly talk about it. 🙃 If anyone wants that vault thread (and especially if you'd like more details/to hear the Extended content warnings first) hmu, because he is going to get rid of that sticker book ASAP.
OTHER PLANS: If anyone's supernatural senses have not been fully nerfed (or if they just have a good intuition), Kamui consistently radiates Bad Vibes on account of the uhhh crime-chaotic entity thing. And also the weird not-human silver eye. Please feel free to have your character pick up on this if you like!
