GUIDELINES.
This is the OOC plotting post for the January 2024 event! Here you can find brief summaries of the various event prompts which may help you engage in plotting with other players. To participate, utilize the code at the bottom of the page. This is not mandatory! Feel free to plot here or in private with other players, or simply wait to be part of the event.
NOTE: This is NOT the event log! The event log will go up on the 19th of this month.
THE NIGHT STARTS TO FALL IN YOUR SPINE.
Between Friday, January 19 and Monday, January 22, characters will feel oddly compelled to pay a visit to the media convention being hosted at the city's convention center over the weekend. The compulsion is a gentle one, making characters feel intrigued by the idea of the convention and interested in knowing more, but there will not be a compulsion aspect that forces them to attend.
The convention center itself is a modern-looking building of glass and metal, letting in plenty of natural light for a warm and inviting atmosphere. Inside, the hallways are wide and carpeted, and all of the panel rooms are kept clean and tidy. Many of the panel rooms are dark and empty, of course, since there's just the one convention taking place right now, but it's easy to see how the place might bustle when there's more than one event going on.
Upon arrival, characters will be put into cosplay (either by force or by choice), and will have the option to explore the artist's alley, dealer's hall, and the panel rooms around the convention center that will play host to panels on various topics.
PEOPLE TURN TO YOU IN WONDER.
Characters who attend the convention will be put in cosplay upon arrival! This cosplay can be an outfit of their own from home; could be the outfit of a friend or enemy from home; or could be the outfit of another current or former City resident. It could also be something completely silly, like an inflatable t-rex costume.
Those who aren't satisfied with their original costume can make use of the dressing rooms to change. However, entering the dressing room to change doesn't mean they'll get a costume that's better than the one they're already wearing—the new costumes are "random" (although OOCly left up to player choice, naturally) and may be even sillier, skimpier, or less suitable than the one they had on before.
The longer a character wears a costume, the more they will begin to take on some of the traits of the character whose costume they're wearing. This can be fairly broad (e.g. someone puts on an "adventurer's costume" and begins to behave more adventurously) or fairly specific (e.g. someone puts on Gale Dekarios' robes and starts speaking in precisely his accent). The costume may also be accompanied by physical changes to make the cosplay more "accurate," such as changes to eye or hair color, and may even convey a weak version of that character's canon powers.
However, coming into contact with someone who knows the character well and would be able to tell that they're not acting like themselves is enough to break the effect and return the character to their normal personality.
WHO DREAMED OF FIRE, OF FLIGHT.
The Dealer's Hall and Artist's Alley are what one might expect from a smallish-sized convention: a variety of items available for "sale," from figurines to keychains to art prints and everything in between.
Some of the merchandise features the same mascot characters as were available as prizes at the carnival, while others feature either animals/monsters from character canons or recognizable characters either here in the city or from back home. Characters are welcome to take things home with them as they desire without consequence!
At the very back of the aisle is the 18+ section, full of "spicy" art and doujinshi. For the most part, the faces in these books and prints aren't visible, similar to the pornography available in the media store—but if your character searches hard enough, they might be able to find themselves represented somewhere.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Crowley is a charming and mischievous, albeit scatterbrained demon who got kicked out of Heaven for asking inconvenient questions and being kind of a pain in the ass. He hasn't let it get him down too much though and has rather been doing his own thing for the last 6000 years. Accomplishments to date include Original Sin, The Last Temptation, the London M-25 Orbital Motorway and smooching his partner Aziraphale.

Emet-Selch | Final Fantasy XIV (Endwalker)

ABOUT YOU: Cat mom and professional daydreamer (in truth I have a customer service/sales/graphic design job - yes, all three combined). My hobbies include art, playing video games, reading/writing and collecting rocks. Main fandom is FFXIV, but I also like the Tales of series and cute shoujo manga like Yona of the Dawn and Tokyo Mew Mew. Currently playing through Baldur's Gate 3 and becoming increasingly curious about D&D and Renaissance faires. Timezone is EST. Tagging speed can be a bit all over the place, but if you would like to set a certain pace for comfort or continuity reasons, please let me know. CANON POINT: Elpis After locating and surrounding Meteion, but before things go completely sour. He'd just pointed out to Hermes that the question and the mission he gave to his creation was flawed, after they learn of the dead civilizations the Meteia witnessed. All of which is to say he comes in pre-villain arc, with all of his memories of Elpis up until that point intact..
ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Emet-Selch is one of fourteen representatives of his world's governing body, his duties being those that involve the Underworld (ie. aetherial sea or afterlife) and his ability to see souls. He's a powerful mage (or was before the power nerf) and spends much of his free time wrangling his two gremlin friends. At first meeting, he can be quite prickly and grumpy, but one will soon learn that he's a rather sentimental sort who will cave to the whims of others if he feels the issue warrants his attention (and if others ask nicely enough). He's passionate about theatre, magicks, good literature and long naps in the park.

EVENT PLOTTING: Emet-Selch will be cosplaying as Solus zos Galvus (ie. himself from Stormblood/Shadowbringers) and will begin taking on much more theatrical personality traits, walk with a slouch, etc. While he won't have all of his memories of Garlemald, he will draw upon what little he has learned via others to try and re-craft this character for himself. Congratulations, your city now has an emperor. You're welcome.
OTHER PLANS: Nothing particular, but seeing as Emet-Selch is popular in his own fandom (oocly at least), feel free to have your character locate related merchandise if you wish. Personally, I'm hoping Emet will be going home with a Grani plush because his demon lizard horse is the goodest boy.
CONTENT WARNING: Garlemald is an imperialistic nation with a history of subjugating its neighbors, and in this role Emet-Selch will likely start to dehumanize others (Ancients excluded) as he was wont to do in order to justify the Ascians' plans. Topics such as death, murder, war, planet-wide destruction and bodysnatching may come up. If those are sensitive topics for you, please let me know so that we can avoid them, and/or if you'd feel better opting out entirely.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: she's a satyr/faun, and she's the worst. only child energy in the 'definitely was too spoiled as a kid' kind of way. she eats hubris for breakfast and overconfidence for lunch. of her adventuring party, she's definitely the most ok. she's learned maybe two things since she's come here even when she eats consequences for dinner and these are my favorite things about her. if you're familiar with dnd 5e, she's a druid/rogue multiclass, heavily leaning into the former.
if you're unfamiliar, here's a general breakdown of her character sheet: fire-biased, but not limited to it since her magic is nature-based as a whole. can turn into animals a few times a day between resting. a healer, but doesn't really broadcast it outside of people she likes. rogue gives her lockpicking and expertise in reading people and picking out interesting details. but honestly, she's very bad at investigation type scenarios otherwise. (the difference between spotting things and knowing how to piece it together, yfm)

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Spunky, fiery, feisty faerie who's basically a lead role in an Arthurian legend AU where things are much worse all the time. She's a stepford smiler, resigned to her fate, and mostly just doing her best. Actually has a pretty gloomy disposition beneath the smiles, but she's forgotten how to be honest about that side of her.
She's slowly learning about the world while being here, which includes things like trying oranges for the first time or seeing her very first movie. It's great!
Altria is a Faerie of Paradise, which mostly means she can see through lies. By default, I'm assuming she won't be able to do so to your character, so if you're not interested, don't worry, you're all set! But if you ever want her to be able to see through any lies or intentions, good or bad, please visit her permissions over here. Thanks!

EVENT PLOTTING: Very enthusiastic to dig into pretty much all of this event! Everything looks super fun. If anyone wants a canonmate to be cosplayed for a jumpscare or wants to do the same for one of Altria's, just lemme know!
She will absolutely be searching for merch of her CR, so let me know if you're not interested in her finding any keychains or other cute things of your character. She wants to collect her favs!!
She'll be cosplaying for sure as Wanderer for at least part of the event, so tsuntsun Altria will be a thing. But I'm also planning on dumping her into this at some point during the event!
Re: spicy art and doujin--okay with spicy doujin content but probably nothing extremely explicit for Altria, either to be found of her or for her to experience. Don't google FGO doujin. I'm here to save you. Trust me.

In addition, he is actually a frost giant and has some natural abilities in creating ice. Of course, all of this has been nerfed by the city so he’s a tame Norse God currently. He’s the God of Mischief and would like to play pranks on anyone, and can be rather mean if in a bad mood. If he likes you though, he can be quite loyal.

EVENT PLOTTING: Loki is going to end up forced to cosplay Thor because how can I resist? I’m thinking about having him attempt to change only to have him come out as Thor again, but at a different point in time or something silly like that.
He’s going to look at the mascot characters and note there is something resembling all of the Avengers, plus a Thanos plushie, but he won’t be represented at all. This will annoy him. He might pout. (He’ll definitely pout.)

ABOUT YOU: I'm a homebody girl living up in the cold Canada north where we dropped to around -50c last week. I have a work-from-home office job so luckily I don't have to go anywhere most days! ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: Izuku is the main protagonist of the anime, a boy born without a quirk or meta-ability in a society where most people are born with them. He is later granted a quirk by his idol and mentor All Might and manages to make it into a prestigious Hero School to become the best hero that ever was. He's friendly, smart, determined, focused and incredibly strong! But he can also be a nervous wreck, shy, overly reckless and prone to mumbling. He's just a big soft nerd, please be his friend and let him talk about nerdy things and bully him with care.

EVENT PLOTTING:
☘️ Izuku will be compelled to go to the Convention Center and will be forcibly (or not so forcibly) dressed up as Dynamight, Bakugou Katsuki's hero persona.
☘️ The costume will gradually start to make Izuku act more and more like Dynamight which means Izuku will start to become louder, abrasive, use swear words and be overly aggressive. Just like Bakugou Katsuki. It'll be so weird to see Izuku's sweet face glaring and frowning as Katsuki does.
☘️ Besides the costume issues Izuku loves conventions like this so he'll more than likely be doing some "shopping" for himself. Might accidentally horde some stuff. Maybe accidentally finds himself with a bunch of sexy doujinshi of his favourite heroes... He'll die on the spot if he finds a doujinshin about HIM. (him and who!!)

☘️ Izuku is also getting involved in Robby's plan to stress test the city and how fast it can repair the damage. Plotting for him and helping him destroy some buildings can be found here.
☘️ Izuku has been here for months now and he's still suffering from bouts of insomnia and stress-induced panic attacks. So the fact that there is a group who is willing to try and find some answers to why they're all stuck here is a plus for him. He doesn't usually like needlessly destroying stuff but if this works they might learn more

He’ll be dressed as the young version of the bard from the Sandman tv series, essentially wearing Elizabethan clothes, such as a brown doublet with a white collar and trousers. He’ll carry a book with a quill pen around and will spout bad Shakespearean gibberish at everyone he meets.

CANON POINT: post-the queen of the damned. for anyone who hasn't read the book (the qotd movie does NOT count): at the end of the book lestat has become a rock star, had an affair with a vampire god, drank her blood and therefore got even more powerful, and decided that the war he wanted to start was actually a silly idea! so instead he decides to live in a house in miami with his vampire friends while flying to london every now and again for a holiday to annoy his human friend. :slight_smile: what a happy ending. :)
ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER: lestat needs no introduction, but here's one anyway: he's *The* Vampire Lestat. he's over two centuries old but you'd never guess because he makes a point of being "aesthetically relevant" (his words, not mine). he's an extravagant, loud, charismatic and ultimately hedonistic young man who knows darn well how hot he is and can and will use it to his advantage. he likes to drink blood - needs to in order to survive, but he likes it, too - and be morally ambiguous; he also likes to look at art, listen to music, make music (see, rock star career mentioned above), dance, fill his house with expensive things, and... humans. he loves humans. thinks they're fascinating.

- for the first two prompts lestat is wearing the typical outfit he would have worn when he was a poor theatre kid in the 1700s. he will be human-esque, and if no-one mentions how weird he’s being he won’t have the instinct to read minds or drink blood.
- in the latter prompts, after he’s changed, he’ll look like a vampire who got dumped in a swamp and had to bring himself back to life feeding on crocodiles and snakes and spent most of the time buried in the mud. can you guess why 8’) he will have his vampire instincts back for these prompts but might be a little less uhhhh, energetic than he usually is.
OTHER PLANS: lestat is opening a nightclub with dorian sometime in the spring and will soon be looking for people with ideas/feedback or people who want to get involved with their plans!! hmu if that interests you - they need service workers but also a DJ, and ideas for themed nights and events they can hold!
