Several people have dreamed of going home. To their friends and family, to business left unfinished. Who knows what keeps you here? And for Fearne Calloway, why not take matters into her own hands?

PREMISE.
In November, Daan received a series of skin bibles from his world. Ultimately, he opted to not investigate experimenting with the Rher skin bible, deciding that it wasn't worth the inevitable cost to the God of Trickery. However, that doesn't stop some people! Deciding to make with a five finger discount, Fearne has opted to take the book for herself and see about performing the ritual herself. What could possibly go wrong?

A lot, apparently.

For one thing, as all characters can attest to, powers aren't working in full functionality. In addition, Fearne is a far cry from an occultist of Daan's world. And thus, the ritual will backfire. Due to the nature of Rher -- trickery and all -- the ritual shall give Fearne a peculiar golden ornamental door. Opening this door offers a pathway into at least a part of Rher's dimension.


However, this ritual can also affect all other doors currently accessible to your character regardless of where they are. Your bedroom door, the door to the bathroom, to the media store, it doesn't matter. Any door can bring you to a pocket dimension produced by Rher, and each time can have a different effect.

POSSIBLE EFFECTS.
🌒 Your character may end up entering a dark room with a series of shelves filled with realistic looking masks. Only... these masks look exactly like all of the other characters currently in the city as well. Opting to wear a mask will cause you to hear the other character's thoughts with perfect clarity, regardless of where they are. Two-way psychic communication is entirely up to the player's discretion.
🌒 Entering a room may trigger a memory share sequence. The memory may play out in a perfect sequence as if one were watching a film, or it can be executed in an exaggerated scenario. Perhaps an antagonist who appears larger than life or monstrous due to your character's anxieties about them, or memories bleed into each other like a nightmare. Feel free to be as creative as you wish with this occasion. One of Rher's themes is "unable to escape your truth", after all.
🌒 Instead of being an outright memory share, a room or series of rooms will display the internal psyche of a character, and now you're trying to escape the pocket dimension. Almost like an escape room playing entirely on your psychology! It can be as symbolic as you care to have it, just that in some way it should reflect upon your character.

The event will begin on January 6, 2024. It will take place for three days in-game time, so from 1/6 - 1/8.

Does one have to remember the memories to memshare?

Is it possible for the memshares to be interactive? For instance, if a character's memory is of fighting their mortal enemy, is it possible for the person watching the memory to take place of the mortal enemy and fight the memory's owner?

Alternatively, is it possible for the memory to realize the viewer is there (without the viewer assuming the role of an existing person in the memory) and react accordingly?

🌒 While I'm not going to have Daan pick up any of the masks to try on, I completely welcome you to put on a Daan mask. Congrats you can only see out of one eye.

🌒 There are a lot of potential scenarios to go through for Daan, but just a blanket warning it's going to include a lot of violence, gore, and mutilation, so please beware of that while reading some ideas:
- A memory of Daan removing his eye.
- A memory of Daan having lost his legs and needing to drag himself across a town to get a way to repair/replace them.
- Memory of Daan hacking off an arm and successfully reviving someone.
- Ideas are not just limited to this, but these are just some suggestions. If you'd like something else or want to plot out an idea, absolutely let me know.

🌒 Horrible psyche escape room is definitely on the table. I have an idea that would incorporate a lot of imagery from Daan's history, and most of taking place what looks like the inside of a fancy estate. Just a lot of him having a bad time with facing his own discomforts in his history.

PSYCHE ESCAPE ROOMS: the big thing for me, I'll be looking at crafting 1-2 versions of a psyche manifestation room for Alhaitham which will require solving its puzzle to get out! My plan is to make it like an event post with everything + the solution linked for people to just run around in with each other with a q&a section for anyone wanting to poke deeper or try of the wall solutions, just so I don't have to keep up any characters going through with each other for DMing.

Alhaitham will NOT be around for these so that he can't just solve the puzzle and push everyone out of his mind space but characters are free and encouraged to tell him about it later.

STANDARD MEMSHARE: This is just on request if there's anything in Alhaitham's life, either before the city or since arriving, that you want the character to witness. I'll try and make these a bit interactive so they can experience them either with or without Alhaitham!

MASKS: Alhaitham is not just going around trying people's weird masks, but let me know if you want your character to get his before Kaveh makes off with it (or fight Kaveh over it I'm here to enable anything). Caveat that his thoughts (and emotions) aren't terribly exciting but if you really want his thoughts on what he's having for dinner, troubleshooting building a drone, or being down bad for Kaveh don't let me stop you.

Oh this looks so fun and interesting, thank you for running this!

Altria is super duper cagey both about her memories and past, and also about how she feels/thinks on a daily basis, so if you're interested in getting in on any of that, this seems like a great chance for a peek behind the smiley act.

Memshare: Her backstory, if you're interested! It's all bad! She never wants to talk about it! CWs include: child abuse, severe frostbite to the extent of losing extremities, and just sad times. Oh and lots of murder and death.

Masks: Behind the smiles, she's generally pretty depressed, overwhelmed and has a lot of disgust in her heart. She will absolutely try to hide her mask once she realizes what's going on, but she could drop it/people can get to it before she does. Also probably a good way to realize she can see through lies.

Psyche Room: I'll get back to y'all on this one if there's any interest. Her psyche's a mess but it could lead to fun, faerie britain-esque shenanigans for the curious. PERHAPS I WILL HAVE A THING HAMMERED OUT BY JANUARY. my arms are open to everyone

Emet-Selch | Final Fantasy XIV (there will be spoilers for Shadowbringers and Beyond)

I'd like to offer Emet-Selch up for memory sharing, if anyone is interested in their character learning more about magicks and/or the ancient world.

Options include:
+ Childhood shenanigans with Hythlodaeus and/or Azem
+ His acceptance into the Convocation of Fourteen
+ That incident where they save a town from a volcanic eruption by borrowing one of Lahabrea's concepts
+ That other incident where he separates a wandering soul from the Phoinix (...yet another of Lahabrea's concepts)
+ Transformation into his higher form
+ Exploring the Underworld/Aetherial Sea/Lifestream
+ Meeting the Warrior of Light in Elpis (and any subsequent events of your liking)

I'd also be especially keen to have him receive a memory share that brings him face-to-face with Emet-Selch from after the Sundering. Shadowbringers flavor. Because he'd instantly dislike himself - probably. Anything else that might challenge his worldview is also welcome.

He'll be less inclined to pick up one of the realistic masks (he already has a mask, thank you very much!), however anyone is welcome to investigate his mask. Just give me a head's up and we'll hash out some details and set up a nice telepathy session.

A psyche room is also an option! Emet-Selch as he is now is far less...broken than his present-day counterpart. He's a bit of a tsundere whose main concerns are what to do about the impending apocalypse, how to return home, and how to eradicate all of the mistletoe left within The City.

option 1: while sharing thoughts with midnight is sure to be a (usually) pleasant, no thoughts head empty experience, he is, uh, fairly horny, to put it bluntly? this is the comedy option
option 2: catch him while he's actually thinking. that's an unironically bad experience! if you want all of his guilt and trauma in one neat little package, this is the option for that.

personally i would pick the comedy option always but whatever floats your boat folks :)b

MEMORY SHARE

In addition to possible spoilers for Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina, content warnings for Yesod's backstory can include human experimentation, death, insanity, hallucinations, alcohol/drug use and suicide references (not Yesod for these two), and unconscious self-harm-adjacent behavior, so I'll hide more detail under this dropdown option. Most of these usually won't come up, and Yesod isn't affected by certain past issues now.

— Memories of his first life as a researcher named Gabriel, who contributed to the Seed of Light project's early stages for the sake of curing humanity's "disease of the mind"... but everything went horribly wrong, and Gabriel himself died early on after another coworker's death and the futility of even his obsessive safety measures took an increasing toll on his psyche. CW: sort of self-harm (scratching, blood), human experimentation, death, and insanity here.

— Yesod's memories as a neatly-wrapped box-shaped "AI" with his fellow coworker boxes in Lobotomy Corporation. Everything was awful here, too, with employee casualties and Yesod's extreme Emotions Are A Mistake That Cause Further Mistakes era. And the era of hallucinating changing his clothing and seeing his skin rotting anyway because of his internal Despair, despite not having actual clothes or skin at the time... Other memories might involve playing word chain before fun and friendship were also a mistake, his nicknames and various hard-ass moments, Netzach trying to help Yesod by recommending Enkephalin, or Yesod secretly intervening to keep Netzach from actually being punished for neglecting his duties. Breaking point consequences or the seeming completion of the Seed of Light goal could be other options.

— Library times, which have him back in his current human form, and might consist of battles with guests or more ordinary (and less depressing) interactions with his colleagues, ranging from cleaning duty arrangements to sorting books or general group discussions. These memories feature a Yesod who no longer feels the need to keep his body completely covered up, and he's slightly less uptight about everything, including expressing his own emotions.

PSYCHE ROOM

If there is interest in some kind of tailored escape room experience, I'm down to plot. It could be something that involves this vs. this or elements of this. Maybe organizing or rearranging shelves or playing word chain to escape, to balance out the everything else...???

MASKS

If anyone is interested in this, let me know. Yesod does have a lot of thoughts, but outside of some existing plans with Netzach and confirming what is happening, he's unlikely to wear a bunch of strange masks himself.

thoughtshare: kaveh will probably be taking alhaitham's mask so nobody else can read alhaitham's mind because that isn't gay of him to do at all, but he'll leave his own mask there because it'll have slipped his mind, so i'm down for thoughtsharing! if anyone wants to experience anxiety the way chihuahuas do, kaveh's your dude.

memshare: kaveh has two memories up for sale! one is regarding when his mother broke down after the death of his father, eventually leading up to her leaving sumeru so that she can be happy again. cws for this would be child neglect, anxiety, ptsd and just... sad.

the other one is the palace of the alcazarzaray getting devoured by the withering, and then kaveh selling everything he owns and getting into debt with his commissioner to get it built. less sad and more ridiculous, but ironically kaveh will be more embarrassed by this one.

escaperoom: I'M TERRIBLE AT ESCAPE ROOMS, kaveh's mind is just a rube goldberg puzzle at any given time, so if that seems like fun to anyone i'll put together something.

Dorian Gray | Penny Dreadful

I am open to any of these three options, but here are some notes:

Memory Share: Dorian has some dark memories. Most of the events of the novel, if you've read it, happened, although in a much earlier time period than in the novel. A few possibilities:

1. A day in the life of baby Dorian (tw: severe childhood emotional neglect).
2. Being painted by an artist who is clearly in love with an oblivious Dorian (probably kinda wholesome).
3. Creepy grooming behaviors from an older man (tw: creepy grooming behaviors from an older man).
4. The next-day aftermath of him blowing up at an ex (tw: suicide).
5. Blackmail (two options here: him blackmailing someone, or someone else blackmailing him).
6. Revolutionary France (tw: Revolutionary France) and/or his escape from it.
7. Toxic relationships with various people, in some of which he actually isn't the most problematic participant.

Escape room: Dorian has a literal hallway of mirrors in his house leading to a crypt where he keeps his soul jar. There's some good shit to play with there. Let's do this thing.

MEMORY SHARE
↠ THE GOOD
- Showman Ethan! Obviously wasn't a job he loved but he was able to do something he was good at and woo some ladies in the process. I've been itching for a way for someone to see this idiot in that dumb costume with the fake mustache and Party City wig!
- Being with Brona, she was his happiness. He still wears her pendant. It'll be them going to see a play together and being insufferably adorable.
- Being housewife-y in the kitchen with Sembene a la plating snacks or washing dishes. Sembene was someone he respected the hell out of, and he was honored to call him his friend.. even though he killed him during a full moon. Whoops.
- His time with Vanessa on the moors. Namely her teaching him how to dance, they were able to feign some sense of normalcy there. Shut up, those are eyes of friendship.
- Mr. Lyle aggressively flirting with him and him playfully countering.
- Teaching Frankenfailstein how to shoot in the basement, which culminates in Malcolm sending Sembene down to see what all the noise was. Ethan remarks at the end: "Uh-oh, we're in trouble with dad." Big brother/little brother vibes ahoy.

↠ THE BAD
- Having to watch Brona succumb to tuberculosis and being powerless to stop it. More here -- including: her telling him not to kiss her anymore because she's sick but he does it anyway. (That song is too perfect for them, it guts me every time.)
- Sir Malcolm shooting his father because he couldn't bring himself to do it.
- Kaetenay telling Ethan he was the one who turned him into a werewolf and his understandably negative reaction to it.

↠ THE UGLY Trigger Warnings
- TW: Blood, Murder, Child Death, Genocide. Washing the blood off of his hands in a river after killing most of an Apache tribe while he was in the Army. He also killed his commanding officer after he took delight in it, saying they were going to get medals for it while tossing a dead kid into the river to poison the water supply. He was so disgusted with himself that he went to what remained of the tribe to let them kill him.
- TW: Murder, Cannibalism. Waking up at the Mariner's Inn the morning after a full moon surrounded by dead people. People were torn apart and parts of them were likely eaten by the werewolf. Man gets wasted after his girlfriend dies, gets called a monkey by Pinkertons and wakes up responsible for a massacre. Typical day in the life of a PD character!
- TW: Attempted suicide. The night he killed Sembene. He wouldn't be able to recall doing it but everything leading up to it is fair game, including him attempting to shoot himself so he didn't hurt his friend.
- TW: Murder, Torture. Learning exactly how his mother, older brother and little sister were brutally killed from his father. His little sister was tortured. She had her eyes and tongue cut out.

Hey, don't look at me like that. It's called Penny Dreadful not Penny Delightful.

ESCAPE ROOM
His will be full of red herrings. The room will be reminiscent of something from an old but well-off American homestead while being dotted with various Native American artifacts. There are several items that contain the image of a wolf: a painting, a coat of arms, little stone carvings and chunk of amber that reads Lupus Dei.

A bit late but I am definitely down for all the shenanigans here.

MASK
He will take his own mask as soon as he realizes it exists and what it does, but it's entirely possible for someone to get to it first!

I have three options for this:

1. The somber route, focused on building a forge and his swordsmithing family.
2. The comedy route where he's constantly ranting about his dumb annoying pet bird.
3. The diligent route, where he's on task and is thinking about all the things he needs to get done here: working on the gardening project, figuring out how to mess with the simulation, thinking about investigating the new district, etc.

MEMORY SHARE. THE BIG MEAT.
BOY do I have a lot for this. This boy's loaded with so much variety /slaps his back.

1. His abandonment at the Shakkei Pavilion. He has yet to learn anything about being a human, so he will seem mostly like a lifeless doll that doesn't know much. Completely pure and untainted.
2. A memory of him as the Kabukimono in Tatarasuna, forging a sword! He will assume the memory watcher is his close friend Niwa Hisahide, but realize halfway through the memory that they are not Niwa. He's very innocent and friendly here, which is a contrast to how he is normally.
3. [TW: Sickness] A memory of him playing with a young boy, his ailing, nameless family. Said boy ends up feeling too ill to play halfway through the memory, so the rest of the time is him trying his best to take care of the boy.
4. [TW: Body mutilation] Him being used as a research subject by Il Dottore, being taken apart, put back together, upgraded, etc. He'll be on an operating table, fully conscious and in pain.
5. A Fatui Harbingers banquet. He'll be with several of the most dangerous people on Teyvat, and it'll be pretty tense.
6. Obtaining the Electro Gnosis from Yae Miko in his incarnation as Scaramouche. Probably one of the happiest days of his life, in a very twisted way.
7. Trying to protect his first follower, Haypasia, as a newborn god, after talking to the Traveler and being told Dottore is trying to harm her. Tighnari is in this memory and ends up being struck by lightning he summons, so there's that.
8. The Traveler versus his godly incarnation, the Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom. Memory Watchers of this one will assume the role of the Traveler and be assisted by the Dendro Archon Nahida in a battle against him. (But if battle threads aren't your thing, it can be non-interactive!)
9. The day he wakes up after getting his ass kicked, and striking a deal with Nahida to search for certain information in Irminsul.
10. [TW: Suicide Attempt] The moment he discovers Niwa's betrayal was a deception by Dottore, and decides to erase himself from Irminsul to change the past.
11. Him at the Akademiya, being pestered by other Akademiya students who are very curious about this mysterious new face. This one will be generally funny.

If you're canon familiar and have other ideas for a memshare, I'm also totally down for that!

PSYCHE ESCAPE ROOM
I haven't thought of anything specific for this yet, but it'll be themed after, of course, puppets, strings, and multiple identities and egos. I do love creating puzzles, so if you are interested in running through this, let me know so I can start planning immediately!!

Muriel | Good Omens - also super late, shhh

I'm down for anything! I may be a bit slow on this one, since I start a new job next week, but this sounds like a lot of fun.

Masks:
Muriel won't be putting one on, but let me know if you'd like to try theirs. Prepare for anxiety!

Memory share:
• Most of Muriel's memories take place in their office. They've been in there for thousands and thousands of years, recording things, filing stuff, and doing paperwork. Sometimes the colour scheme is a bit warmer, sometimes they're wearing a slightly different outfit, and every few centuries, someone will come and ask them for a file. That's it! That's Muriel's life in Heaven! It's isolated, stifling, and lonely, and they don't quite realize how fucked up it is, because up until a few months ago, it's all they'd ever known. This would probably be more like a sped-up montage than one memory, because watching someone doing paperwork in a white void wouldn't be very interesting.

• Finding Gabriel's corporeal matchbox in Heaven, taking it to their boss, and then speaking to Archangels Michael and Uriel. In context, this is like finding something odd on the floor of an Amazon warehouse, and then being brought upstairs to speak to Jeff Bezos.

• Meeting Aziraphale and Crowley for the first time! (this clip has been sped up, probably to get around youtube copyright stuff, but it works.) Muriel actually used to be even worse at lying and passing for a human!

Mind palace / escape room
Not sure if I'll get to this one, but it'd probably be like a long, empty hallway, with lots of overarching guilt and anxiety. The way out would involve either finding a matchbox, or going 'fuck it' and just breaking a window.
