Johanna would happily (though surely with plenty of snark and flirting) share what she knows about vampire mythology from her world, which is basically our world, so. At some point she probably asked "if I spill rice in front of you are you compelled to count it" which I'm sure Midnight would find not at all baffling.
Her view on the supernatural and the occult boils down to a few concepts, I think. First, that there are a lot of powers in the universe, all of which have rules and bounds, though those rules and bounds may be difficult for humans to understand. Second, that magic is essentially about force of will, and anyone can do it if they put in the work.
And third, to the question of religion and stories, many stories humans tell about occult shit are true in some way, but they're easily distorted by politics and time. (Insert explanation of Christianity and witch hunts here.) But also they can be a bit circular, because if enough people buy into a version of a story it can start to influence reality, and that's why she thinks speaking Latin works on demons even though they've all been around since before the language was invented. Thank you for coming to her TED talk, she thinks you're extremely charming, Midnight.
No apologies for difficulties necessary! He's a good boy!! If he's asking people to go the fair, Johanna would grudgingly tag along. Might try to steal a stuffed bat for Midnight, which will unfortunately not work.
